Anděl guesthouse or Hotel In Spirit? An honest comparison

In Rožnov, Hotel In Spirit and Anděl guesthouse are both among the better places you will find, and their ratings sit very close: In Spirit 9.1/10, Anděl 9.2/10 on Booking.com. Each one aims at a slightly different kind of stay, though. In Spirit is a design experience hotel inside a historic brewery, with beer spas; Anděl is a family guesthouse with a café and a private sauna. Here is how they differ. I write about Anděl with a bias, I admit that, but the facts about In Spirit are left as they are publicly available.

Wellness: a private sauna, or beer spas

Here each place goes its own way, and both make sense. In Spirit is built around beer spas: baths in black beer and malt wraps right inside the historic brewery. It is an experience you have once and remember. In Spirit also has a house brewery, a chocolate factory and an experiential restaurant, so you have a whole evening of program under one roof.

Anděl goes a different way. Our sauna is a private Finnish one; you book it just for yourselves, two to four people. Add a carafe of water, prosecco and bathrobes to borrow, 1000 CZK for 120 minutes. No crowd, just you and the quiet. It is not a beer experience, it is private relaxation you can come back to every month.

This is fair to say outright: both places are rated almost the same. Anděl has 9.2/10 on Booking.com and 4.8/5 from 461 Google reviews, plus first place among Rožnov guesthouses on TripAdvisor. In Spirit has 9.1/10 on Booking.com and 4.7/5 on Skrz.cz. A difference of one tenth means nothing; guests praise both. They differ mainly in what you expect from the stay.

Food, café and kids

With us, breakfast is part of the stay and made from local ingredients. On the ground floor you will also find a café with specialty coffee and homemade cakes, including vegan and gluten-free, and the biggest kids corner in town. Parking is free, right at the door. In Spirit instead has its own brewery and chocolate factory, which is great for an experience, but it is more for couples than for a family with small children.

So which to choose

When you want a one-off romantic experience, beer spas and the design atmosphere of a historic brewery, go to In Spirit. When you are after a quiet family stay with a private sauna, good coffee, a kids corner and breakfast included, our choice is Anděl.
