Playgrounds and attractions in Rožnov for kids: where to have fun

Rožnov pod Radhoštěm is a town where children will never be bored. Playgrounds, parks, water in summer and indoor fun when it rains — and all of it close by. Here is our overview of where to go for activity and fun, whether the sun is shining or it is pouring.

Playgrounds and parks in town

When you just want to let the kids loose among the climbing frames, you do not have far to go:

• Playgrounds in the town parks — climbing frames, swings and sandpits a few minutes on foot from the centre.
• The park and the area around the Bečva river — green spaces for running, frisbee and a picnic. Pleasant shade in summer.
• Open spaces by the open-air museum — combine a trip into old crafts with a good run-around.

Cycle path and outdoor activity

Our top tip is right outside the guesthouse:

• The Bečva cycle path starts 100 m from Anděl, is flat and runs through the river valley. Perfect for first kilometres, a balance bike or a pushchair. More in the article about the Bečva cycle path.
• You can rent bikes and set off straight from the door after breakfast.

Water play and summer

In the warm months, children are drawn to water:

• Swimming and cooling off in the area — up to 30 minutes by car.
• Paddling in the Bečva — the shallows by the bank are a summer hit. Bring wellies or a change of clothes.

Attractions with a programme

When you want more than a playground:

• Wallachian Open-Air Museum (skanzen) — living crafts, animals and a seasonal programme for families. Children love the forge, the mill and the fairs.
• Seasonal events in town — markets, festivals and children’s programmes are held mainly during school holidays and public holidays.

What to do when it rains

The Beskydy weather has its whims, so we have a plan B right here. The Anděl café has the largest kids corner in Rožnov — dry, warm and right next to your table. The children play while you finally get to drink your coffee in peace. And because we think of the whole family, we also have gluten-free and vegan cakes.

Accommodation for families

After a day full of playgrounds and bikes, good sleep comes in handy. Families most often choose the Bukový room with a separate bedroom — the kids fall asleep and the parents get some quiet.

• In the evening, once the children are asleep, parents can treat themselves to a private sauna.
• Note: dogs are not allowed.

• A helmet is handy for little cyclists — you will meet other families on the Bečva cycle path.
