The Beskydy with Kids: Tips for a Family Trip and Stay
You can do the Beskydy with kids without any stress — distances are short, nature is close by, and when it rains there is always somewhere to go. Here is our family plan: what to do outdoors, what to do when it rains, and how to settle in comfortably with even the youngest here at Anděl penzion.
Where to go with kids in fine weather
When the sun is shining, you have plenty of options around Rožnov within 30 minutes:
- Bečva cycle path — starts 100 m from the penzion, is flat and follows the river valley. Ideal for first kilometres with children, for a balance bike or a pram.
- Wallachian Open-Air Museum — the largest open-air museum in Central Europe, with live craft demonstrations and a family programme. Children love the animals, the forge and the mill.
- Playgrounds in Rožnov — both in town and in the park by the Bečva you will find climbing frames and sandpits just a few minutes’ walk away.
- Pustevny and Radhošť — about a 30-minute drive. The ridge walk is easy, and you can also take a chairlift up to Pustevny (check the timetable in advance).
What to do with kids when it rains
The Beskydy weather can surprise you, so we always have a plan B:
- Anděl café — right here at the penzion you can settle in with a homemade cake while the children play in the largest kids’ corner in Rožnov. You finally get to enjoy your coffee in peace.
- The museum in the rain — part of the exhibition is indoors, so a trip to the Wallachian Museum is worth it even when it is wet.
- A quiet afternoon in your room — board games, books and a warm cup of tea. Sometimes a day like that turns out to be the loveliest.
Accommodation in the Beskydy with kids
Families staying with us at Anděl most often choose the Bukový room, which has a separate bedroom. The children fall asleep, and you can talk or read in peace without having to whisper in the dark.
For families we can arrange:
- Extra beds for older children — let us know how many children you have when booking and we will set up the room accordingly.
- A cot for babies — just let us know in advance.
- Children under 4 stay free — no accommodation surcharge.
Take a look at our rooms and choose the one that suits your family.
How to plan a family day
A proven rhythm that families praise:
- A morning bike ride or trip to the museum → run around outdoors.
- Lunch and an afternoon rest in your room → little ones need a break.
- Late afternoon at the café and the kids’ corner → coffee for you, play for them.
- In the evening, once the children are asleep, the private sauna just for 2–4 people → a reward for the parents.
A few practical tips
- Bring wellies and a change of clothes for the kids — they love splashing about by the Bečva.
- A cake tip: we also have gluten-free and vegan cakes, so the whole family can enjoy them, even with allergies.
- Book in advance, especially at weekends and during holidays — family rooms are limited.
