Pushchair-friendly trips in the Beskydy: accessible routes

With a pushchair in the Beskydy, you can manage more than you might expect, just stick to flat, paved routes. The most comfortable is the Bečva cycle path, paved and flat, starting 100 metres from the Anděl guesthouse. Add walks along the river and paved loops around the open-air museum, and you have a day planned without carrying the pushchair over roots and steps.

Which route in the Beskydy is suitable for a pushchair?

How to tell whether a route will be an easy pushchair ride:

• Paved surface: asphalt, paving or a maintained path. Leave forest trails with roots and steps for the baby carrier.
• Little elevation gain: flat routes in the river valley are the most comfortable for pushing a pushchair.
• Shade and benches: in summer, look for paths with trees and spots to stop, feed and change nappies.
• Back within an hour or two: with a baby, plan shorter loops and remember that the little one sets the pace of the day.

If a route ticks all four boxes, you will manage it with a pushchair without lifting the wheels over obstacles, and without any stress.

Where exactly to go with a pushchair near Rožnov?

• The Bečva cycle path: flat, wide and paved, running through the river valley. It starts 100 metres from the guesthouse, so you set off straight from the door, no need to drive the pushchair anywhere. • Walks along the Bečva: quiet, paved paths shaded by trees, ideal on warm days when you want to be by the water.
• Loops around the Wallachian Open-Air Museum: the paved paths of the open-air museum are manageable with a pushchair for most of the route. The museum is a few minutes’ walk from the guesthouse.

What if it rains and you have a pushchair?

The Beskydy weather can turn quickly, so we have a plan B right here. The Anděl café has a cosy kids corner and a spot to park your pushchair. An older sibling can play, the baby can nap, and you can enjoy specialty coffee and a homemade cake, gluten-free, vegan or lactose-free if you like. We are open daily from 11:00 to 20:00, so you have somewhere to shelter in the afternoon too. Once the shower eases off, you can also walk through the covered exhibitions at the open-air museum.

Where to stay comfortably with a baby?

For pushchair trips to make sense, a quiet base close to the routes comes in handy. Families here most often choose the Bukový room with a separate bedroom: the baby falls asleep in the bedroom while you can chat quietly in the living area.

• Cot 100 Kč for the whole stay, we will set it up on request, just let us know when you book.
• Children up to 4 years without their own bed stay free.
• Extra bed 599 Kč per person per night for older siblings.
• In the evening, once the baby is asleep, parents can treat themselves to a private sauna just for two, 1,000 Kč for 120 minutes.
• Note: dogs are not allowed.

Practical tips for a trip with a pushchair

• Bring a rain cover for the pushchair, a Beskydy shower comes on fast.
• Plan routes around shade, in summer it is more pleasant down in the river valley.
• Allow for nappy changes and feeding, choose paths with benches.
• Book a room with a cot in advance, we tend to fill up especially at weekends and during the holidays.
