Christmas in the Beskydy Mountains: peace, sauna and cakes
Christmas in the Beskydy Mountains is all about peace and quiet. No queues in the shops, just snowy scenery, the scent of mulled wine and a stillness you will not find in the city. If you want to spend the holidays without the rush, you have come to the right place.
Why come to the Beskydy for Christmas
- Peace and quiet — an escape from the pre-Christmas bustle of the big cities.
- Snowy scenery — at higher elevations there is often snow for walks.
- Comfort at the guesthouse — the sauna, the café and a quiet room within reach.
- A traditional atmosphere — Wallachia knows how to enjoy the holidays in its own way.
What to do over the Christmas holidays
Within 30 minutes’ drive of the guesthouse you can choose to suit your mood and the weather:
- The open-air museum in Rožnov — the Wallachian Open-Air Museum usually has a festive atmosphere during Advent.
- Walks through snowy scenery — the forests above the town are magical and quiet in winter.
- Pustevny and Radhošť — the snowy ridge walk with the statue of Radegast.
- The Bečva cycle path — a lovely walk through the valley along the river in winter too.
Bring warm clothing and sturdy shoes — in the mountains it tends to be a few degrees colder than in town.
A quiet evening at the guesthouse
Christmas is the ideal time to slow down. After a walk through the frosty landscape, there is nothing better than warming up in our private sauna — a Finnish sauna and a cooling pool for just 2–4 people. No sharing with strangers, just you and the peace and quiet.
And when you fancy something sweet, you can sit with us at Café Anděl over speciality coffee, hot chocolate and homemade cakes — we also have gluten-free and vegan options. The children can play in the meantime in the largest children’s corner in Rožnov.
How to plan a Christmas stay
A tried-and-tested Christmas day with us looks like this:
- A quiet morning walk through snowy scenery.
- A visit to the festively decorated open-air museum in the afternoon.
- A coffee and cake in the café when it turns frosty outside.
- The private sauna in the evening and a peaceful night in your room.
You can choose from our rooms depending on whether you are travelling as a couple or with the family.
