A view inside the Anděl café in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm

Rožnov pod Radhoštěm may be a smaller town, but you will certainly not go hungry here. Whether you come for a trip, to the open-air museum, or you are coming back from the ridges of the Beskydy, you will find food for every taste. Let me help you get your bearings.

Depending on what you are in the mood for

Rožnov offers a varied mix, so first decide what you actually want:

  • Traditional Wallachian cuisine – hearty, honest, warming. Look for it near the museum and in the mountain chalets.
  • A classic Czech pub – schnitzel, svíčková, beer. A safe choice for the whole family.
  • Quick bites – when you are rushing on to the next trip and just need to refuel.
  • A café and patisserie – for coffee, cake and a moment’s peace. This is where we come in.

Wallachian specialties

If you want to taste the region, head for Wallachian cuisine. Kyselica, frgály, smoked meat and homemade slivovitz belong to the Beskydy as much as Radhošť. You will taste them best at the Wallachian Open-Air Museum and in the mountain chalets towards Pustevny. I have written a whole article about exactly what not to miss – take a look so you know what you are getting into.

A family with children? Choose wisely

When you travel with children, food is only half the success. The other half is keeping the little ones from getting bored. So choose places with a kids corner or a garden. At our café we have the cosy kids corner, so you can really enjoy your coffee and cake in peace.

For something sweet and coffee, come to us

When you fancy something nice with your coffee, drop in to Anděl. We pour specialty coffee from the QB roastery, and pastry chef Marcela bakes homemade cakes to go with it – including vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free versions. Our gluten-free poppy-seed cake is renowned. We are open every day from 11:00 to 20:00 and no booking is needed.

And when you want to stay overnight in Rožnov

If you are planning to stay longer, take a look at our rooms. Breakfast is included, so you set off on your trip well fed in the morning. You can get in touch with us any time via the contact page – I am happy to advise on where to eat in the area too.
